Summer Hiking in Veysonnaz2

Hiking

With a huge variety of well signposted paths the Valais is a hiker's paradise! The flora, fauna and grazed pastureland around Veysonnaz are all protected.

Hiking in the Swiss AlpsWhether you like to take it easy or prefer challenging tours in the high mountains, you will be enchanted by the alpine landscape. Along the way, you may see famous peaks like the Dents du Midi, shimmering turquoise mountain lakes, meadows in bloom, picturesque villages and sun-browned timber houses.

An easy way to discover the area is by the network of Bisses, which are delightful paths alongside 15th century irrigation canals. They are brilliant as they are almost level yet have fantastic views as they pass through mountain pastures. The jewel of this network is the "Bisse de Vex" which has been extensively restored for 12km. It passes within 200m of the apartments and is appreciated by walkers of all ages.

To help you choose routes, there are maps with plenty of information about the trails, duration and level of difficulty. You can self guide or book a guide through the Mountain Guide and Hiking Office: www.montagne-loisirs.ch

Shuttle buses provide opportunity for one way routes. Lifts open in the summer for mid-June to mid-September. Exact dates can be found on the Veysonnaz tourism website.
